Professor Wheeler’s major substantive interests have been social comparison, behavioral contagion, physical attractiveness, and social interaction. He is a pioneer in the use of diary methods, such as the Rochester Interaction Record and the Social Comparison Record. He is a past President of the Society for Personality and Social Psychology and the founding editor of the Review of Personality and Social Psychology.
